Editcetera director Barbara Fuller will lead this discussion of opportunities for freelancers who want to work with words in the San Francisco Bay Area. What kinds of jobs exist? What are possible sources of work, where can you find out about openings, and how can you make yourself stand out among the many freelancers competing for work?

The evening will begin with a formal presentation and tips for increasing your workload. An informal question-and-answer session and discussion will follow for participants who choose to stay. Handouts will provide you with resources for follow-up depending on your interests and needs; specific job leads will not be provided.

Barbara Fuller has worked in publishing since 1985. As director of Editcetera, she has helped connect freelance publishing professionals with hundreds of clients. Her personal clients have included the Administrative Office of the Courts, Computer Literacy Press, Encyclopaedia Britannica, HarperSanFrancisco, Jossey-Bass Publishers, the National Association of Neonatal Nurses, Sierra Club Books, Sierra magazine, Ten Speed Press, and many independent authors. She has taught writing and editing for UC Davis, UC Berkeley Extension, and private businesses, as well as for Editcetera.
